629. In your quest for success, are you prepared to ride the bench?
Basketball tryouts were coming up for my daughter. Though she’d never played before, Coach wanted her to try out. She thought out loud about what position she should play & her jersey number.
I asked her one question, “Are you prepared to ride the bench?”
What will you do if you step into the arena and you’re not an instant success? What will you do if you have to work just as hard, if not harder than the others, yet they get the limelight & you don’t even get a ”thank you.”
Will you quit, saying that this game’s not for you? Or are you willing to ride the pine & work in the off-line hours to earn your spot?
